Kollektiv aus internationalen Künstler*innen und Wissenschaftler*innen veröffentlicht interaktive Web-Plattform zum Halle-Anschlag und der Zunahme internationalen rechten Terrors und der White Supremacy- Ideologie.
Berlin – Ein Kollektiv aus internationalen Künstler*innen und Wissenschaftler*innen veröffentlicht – in Kooperation mit der antifaschistischen Initiative NSU-Watch, welche die Webseite hostet – eine interaktive Web-Plattform, die den Terroranschlag in Halle am 9. Oktober 2019 detailliert aufarbeitet und auf die Rolle von Online-Radikalisierung bei der Rekrutierung von Rechtsextremen aufmerksam macht.
In Anlehnung an die Analyse von Forscher*innen zum Christchurch-Massaker 2019 wurde die interaktive Web-Plattform mit der Open-Source-Technologie von Forensic Architecture erstellt und beschreibt sowohl die Online- als auch Offline-Ereignisse des Halle-Anschlags. Nutzer*innen können jedes Ereignis auf der Timemap als einen Punkt in Zeit und/oder Raum betrachten. Anhand der Berichte von Überlebenden und Zeug*innen sowie animierten und kommentierten 3D-Videos beschreibt die Zeitleiste Minute für Minute die Geschehnisse vom 9. Oktober, vom Beginn des Angriffs bis zur Verhaftung des Attentäters.
Darüber hinaus enthält die Plattform einen kurzen Überblick zu Online-Radikalisierung und dem Anstieg rechten Terrors auf lokaler und globaler Ebene. Gleichzeitig werden Chronologie und Kontinuitäten einzelner, doch miteinander verbundener Ereignisse rechten Terrors wie in Oslo, Christchurch, Poway, El Paso und Hanau aufgezeigt und der Anschlag von Halle dementsprechend eingeordnet. Die Plattform enthält Links zu Berichten und Analysen von Forschungseinrichtungen und Think Tanks, die den Aufstieg des Rechtsextremismus über soziale Medien, Gamingplattformen und verschlüsselte Message Boards untersuchen.
Lou Solomon, Sprecherin des Kollektivs: „Der Anschlag von Halle ist kein Einzelfall. Der Attentäter hat zwar an dem Tag alleine gehandelt, aber er denkt nicht allein. Der Anschlag steht beispielhaft für die wachsende Gefahr durch rechten Terror und die internationale White Supremacy-Ideologie. Regierungen, Behörden und Zivilgesellschaft müssen dies anerkennen und dementsprechend handeln.“
Mit diesem Projekt fordern wir auch Betreiber*innen verschiedenster Internetplattformen dazu auf, diese Gefahr endlich ernst zu nehmen und pro-aktiv dagegen vorzugehen. Wir werden die Plattform kontinuierlich aktualisieren, um aktuelle Entwicklungen zu berücksichtigen und weiterhin Personen und Internetplattformen, die an der Verbreitung von Hass und Hetze beteiligt sind, zur Verantwortung ziehen.

Collective of international artists and researchers publishes interactive web platform detailing Halle attack and the rise of global white supremacist terror online
Berlin, Germany – A collective of international artists and researchers, in collaboration with the anti-fascist alliance NSU-Watch as web platform host, has launched an interactive cartographic web platform detailing the terror attack in Halle on the 9th of October 2019 and its connections to the vast and growing recruitment and radicalization efforts of right-wing extremists online.
Using the open source technology built by Forensic Architecture, and following the detailed analysis of researchers of the Christchurch massacre in 2019, the platform explores both the offline and online occurrences of the attack in Halle, as well as some of its global influencers.
Users can view each event on the platform as points in time and/or space. Timelines include minute by minute descriptions of what happened on October 9th — from the start of the shooter’s attack to his final arrest — presented and re-enacted through detailed witness reports, Google Earth surveillance, and 3D animated videos.
The platform also carries a brief overview of online radicalization and the rise of far-right terror locally and globally through the chronologizing of other separate, but connected, instances of far-right extremist violence in cities like Oslo, Munich, Christchurch, Poway, El Paso, and Hanau over the last several years. These events include links to published reports and articles by research institutions and think tanks covering the rise of right-wing extremism over social media, gaming platforms, and encrypted message boards.
Lou Solomon, spokesperson of the collective: “The attack in Halle, as with so many other instances of national and international violence, did not happen in isolation. The shooter may have acted alone, but he did not think alone. It is exemplary of the burgeoning reach and impact that white supremacist terror carries across borders. It is imperative that governments, law enforcement and civil society recognizes and act upon this.”
This platform, which will be updated continuously, calls for an increase in awareness and pro-activity by government, law enforcement, and civil society against online radicalization, and for the individuals and internet platforms responsible for the dissemination of hate and the incitement of white supremacist terror to be held accountable.
